WARNING: Not all bagatelle games are the same size and there is no guarantee that these balls will fit your game - please measure your balls before ordering!
The 9/16 inch (~14mm) diameter balls fit our old 80cm long hand-made Oak and Ash faced pin bagatelles, now discontinued.
The hand-made Oak bagatelles with bells that we currently sell come with 5/8 inch size balls.
The 5/8 inch (~16mm) balls should fit the discontinued Jaques' and HOM bagatelle games that we used to sell. They also seem to fit most of the standard size Corinthian Bagatelles from the 1930s era.
If you aren't sure what size will fit your game, there are some ways to improve your chances of getting the right size.
- Firstly, measure the ball channel that the balls start in. This normally has a significant leeway on either side and should give you an upper bound for the diameter.
- If your board has scoring cups, then measure the inside diameter of these - this gives a lower bound for the diameter of the ball.
- Finally, measure the distance from the edge of the board to the centre of the sprung pin. On the vast majority of bagatelles, this is the pin on the top left side of the board that the ball usually hits first after running around the top of the game. This distance should be half or a little more than half the diameter of the ball. Err on the smaller side because if the ball is even slightly bigger than this distance, it will not bounce back up the board but will instead bounce into the heart of the game which can ruin the experience.
