The smooth, beautifully finished 9mm solid Welsh slate is very heavy with a baize backing so it should not move around during play. There are 9 beds - which is the most standard layout. Each bed is 1 & 1/4 inch deep (we have heard that some leagues play to a wider bed but this is the most common depth).

To make the game work as it should, you will need to sprinkle a little powder onto the slate before play. We recommend Arrowroot powder but talcum powder should work as well.
