Restored/refurbished Ashcroft Slate-bed 9 Cup Bagatelle Table
A stunning 9 Cup antique Bagatelle Table beautifully and expertly restored. Probably from the late 1800s, this table was made by Ashcroft, one of the leading billiard and bagatelle manufacturers of the era. The table is a remarkable piece of antique furniture but the game of nine cup bagatelle is also terrific fun - as popular as billiards in England for around 100 years. The game can be enjoyed solo or with any number of players and is a game of great skill with certain characteristics that are unique and different to cue sports such as Pool and Snooker. Bagatelle takes seconds to learn and can also be played casually by players aged from as young as six upwards. With a playing area of 8 x 2.5 feet, this delightful bagatelle table comes with everything needed to play. The main body of the game and the cups are all original and the woodwork has been expertly restored with normal wear and tear marks demonstrating its long history. Robustly manufactured for pubs, in a century when things were made properly, it will probably only increase in value. Reconditioning work undertaken includes:
- Legs and woodwork all sanded, repaired, restored and french polished.
- Brass Screws replaced.
- Brand new baize fitted with Strachan 100% wool West of England 777 billiard cloth
- Cups refurbished and numbers re-etched
- Brand new quality billiard rubber fitted under cushions
- A new cue and balls supplied for the play of all bagatelle games.
- Ashcroft label clean and resealed with clear lacquer
Table adheres to the last remaining Bagatelle league specifications (the Chester Bagatelle league) Collection is from Suffolk, IP22 2RP in person, using a 'man in a van' service or with a specialist delivery driver. Slate bed with timber surround. 3. Supporting table frame with legs The slate is the heaviest part but can be moved by three persons or two strong men.
